Thermobar App Reviews

22 Customer Reviews:

This app only displays the temperature in the menu bar. To do anything else, you have to visit the nest website, although there is a link to go tot he site from the app. Don’t waste your money on this! I would like my money back.

If you have a single NEST this works well. If you have more than one, like I do, it seems to pick up random one after each restart. Hopefully it can be updated to support multiple units in the future? Otherwise I would recommend using the other app in the appstore that does support multiple NEST units if you need tha functionality like I did. Ill give it 4 stars for working well if you have a single nest.

I like this app because it lets me see what my Nest is doing at a glance, whether I’m home or not. The color-changing text is a nice indicator of whether the heat is on or not.

This app does exactly what I paid for, and does it great. I did come across a little bug that I emailed the developer, Dan, about. He responded within hours and helped me to resolve the issue immediately. You can’t ask for better support! Get this app!

It shows you the current temp and allows you to open a browser window to change the temp via he nest site. I was hoping for some way I could set the temp from the app rather than going to the website so -1 star for the extra step required.

Love being able to set my home to away when I open my laptop at work. I would like to see a setting in preferences to set how often the data refreshes.

While this is a very useful app, everytime I navigate to adjust something I get the NEST instructional menu because I bet the app doesn’t save the web cookie to not show this anymore. So yes this is a great app but don’t be fooled, it just loading a web browser inside of a native application. I would love to see an actual Native app that interacts with the themostat API and does more than NEST currently provides.

Issues with login

Every time this app runs my nest goes offline. I can’t access the nest over the iPhone, ipad or this app.

it’s a webportal

all this app does is allow for their own browser window to access your nest account. It’s a waste of money.

Id file this one under the "worthless" category. Youre better off just having your iPhone or iPad nearby to check and/or control your Nest(s). What this app needs is a "buyers remorse" feature so you can erase the app, get your money back AND erase the memory of thinking you were buying something useful.

Thermobar is excellent for controlling *multiple* nest thermostats. There are a few options out there that are similar, but here is why you should get this one: - It just works, and does so reliably. - It handles more than one Nest. (I am using it with 5.) - You can conveniently name each device - The developer (Don) is very, very responsive. (I emailed him a suggestion and he responded and was working on adding it within a few hours despite already having a few other unrelated things going on.) Now, for the bad reviews: My guess is these are coming from either competitors or people that didn’t read the description before they bought it. As I said before, it does exactly what it says it does…no more and no less. And for those complaining that it uses the Nest website for detailed control, that is correct. And I would argue the best option. Nest makes beautiful interfaces and you should enjoy it. Fortunately Don just makes it really easy to access the original Nest interface. If he were to build his own, it would likely require a great deal of maintenance and creativity while falling short of what Nest has now and will likely improve in the future. Bottom line, I consider this a positive feature. And if you bought a nest, I am pretty sure you can use one days savings to help pay for this app. :)

It shows the temperature on the menu with the name of the thermostat. This a great little app. Worth the price if you use your Mac all the time and want to see how warm (or cold) it is in your house.

I love this app! It rocks! and dark mode is a sweet addition.

Having the current temp or set temp up on menubar is a nice feature. It’s great that it turns orange or blue when you are heating or cooling. Knowing that you’re using the website and not the app to control thermostat is not really seamless and it should be. Also, it’s confusing at first whether you are set for home or away. Have it toggle the words home or away there or have a checkmark next to home if you are home.

It used to work most of the time and now it just doesn’t. I am over it. I went with Inversion. It’s free and at least works. It’s not ideal, but you’re not throwing, yet another, $1.99 away.

Most importantly it should be able to show not only the current temp, but also the set temp. I also wish you could change the temp without having to open the website. I have an iPhone Widget from a different company which cost less that is able to adjust the temp.
